Power Series Wiring Guide For 1616, 1832 and 1864 Models

Basic wiring starting from the left

AC Terminal = 2 wires from the plug in Transformer (not polarity specific).

AUX Terminals = Positive and Negative for all sensors that require power ( motions, glassbreaks, etc.)

Bell Terminal = Power for your siren(s) Bell + is for either ALL Red (yelp sound) or ALL Yellow (steady sound) Bell – is for ground.(if you have 6 wires, wire the blacks together for ground and either the red or yellow together for power). You can also use these bell terminals for strobes.

Keybus Terminal = Red, Black, Yellow, Green, connection for keypad(s) and any other module that uses the 4 wire keybus.

PGM Terminal = Used as a programmable ground, PGM 1 mostly for Voice Dialers and PGM 2 mostly for Smoke Detectors.

Zone Terminals = Z1-Z6 (Z8 on an 1832 or 1864 panel) for indivualizing contacts and detectors. More than 1 “normally closed” contact can be wired in “Series” in each “Z” terminal but if you do not know what that means, don’t add more than 1 per zone. If adding multiple “normally open” devices (Smoke, heat detectors) per zone, they need to be “Parallel”. The “com” is shared by the connecting 2 “Z” terminals and is used to complete the loop. **note** The Zone and Com terminals are NOT polarity specific

EGND Terminal = Earth ground for panel, recommended ONLY to be wired to your homes breaker panel ground, but if you can not get it there, don’t wire it at all, it is not required and most people leave it alone.

Telephone terminals = Ring and Tip are for the red and green of the phone company and R1 and T1, if used are to feed back to your inside phones.

End of line Resistors

EOL Resistors are only needed for “normally open” connections (smoke and heat detectors) they are NOT needed for all other connections (doors and motion detectors) but by default the Panel IS looking for them, so if you skip the resistors, you have to let the panel know (*8 – installer code – 013 – turn #1 ON )

“Tam” Terminals = Found on Modules such as DSC’s 5108 Zone Expanders and 5204 Power Supply Modules need to jump a short wire from the “tam” terminal to the “black” terminal of the 4 wire keybus.
