GE Simon XT Wireless Alarm System

Quick Start Programming Guide

Installation of this “do it yourself” professional alarm system is as easy as programming a remote control to operate your TV, VCR and CD player.  If you DO make a mistake in programming don’t worry, page 58 of the installation manual tells you how to easily start over from factory defaults.

Powering up the system: You must install the battery first before plugging the main unit in, otherwise you may get a false low battery signal. If you still get a “low battery” warning, start then cancel a sensor test.

Set the time:

Press enter on the upper right of your control panel- you will see “set clock” in the display window. Press enter again and the control panel asks for a code, which is 4321 by default. Then press enter twice and the first two digits (hour) start blinking. Scroll up/down (the arrows above and below the enter button) till you reach the hour you’d like and press enter to set the hour. The next set of digits (minutes) are then blinking. Scroll up/down till you get the minutes you’d like and press enter to “set the minutes.”  Now an “a” is blinking. Scroll to “p” if its p.m. or leave it on “a” if it’s a.m.  Press enter to set the am/pm function. Simply press the status button twice and the time you have chosen is saved.

Learning in sensors, assigning them to groups and naming / labeling them: First scroll to system program and hit enter key, then enter installer code and enter key. Scroll till you get to “sensors”, then press enter key, then scroll to learn sensors and press enter key. Now trip the sensor you want to use.  After you have learned in a sensor (tripped it’s trigger-each device comes with instructions on how to do that), the “grp” will be flashing. Scroll up/down till you get to the group number you need and press enter. A sensor group determines how each sensor will behave and what attributes each sensor will have.

Next it will be flashing front door. Just scroll up/down to find a description (name) that best describes the area that is being protected ( you may enter the name segment number to choose one off the list instead of scrolling through the entire list ), and if there is not one you can scroll further choosing letters to customize your application, then press enter key. Then it gives you another blank to add some customized info. After you have completed this, press enter key again. The next sensor in turn will now be flashing.  Trip the next sensor in your list and define its group, etc. Continue until you have no more sensors. When you have reached the end of the list, press the status button about 4 times, which will save your information and back you out to the clock.

* Note, to get the option for certain functions, delay times, chime feature, etc. you must select a group that will utilize the attribute. *

Congratulations…you have just successfully programmed your security system in a few easy steps… You are done unless you want to modify and or customize some of the operational preferences to better satisfy your personal needs such as…
